I did it. I deleted my Facebook and Instagram apps. Not the accounts. I’m not THAT strong. Just at least the apps so that I can’t access those sites as easily.
My plan is to never post on those sites again. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think I’ll be able to do it either. But I have got to try. It’s kind of a half ass change, I’ll admit.
It’s not like I’m going completely off the grid. I have created three websites (typeblogger is one) because I love building websites, and so I’ll be posting on those. These sites also have or will have Twitter accounts.
So again, I’ll still be wasting a lot of time online, but it already feels more like the old Internet I remember back when I was a kid.
Back then, sites like Facebook, and even the original MySpace, didn’t exist. There was just online forums, and some cool music communities that I used to be a part of where I met a lot of nice people. Everything also felt more private.
So, I say, along with so many others: #deletefacebook. The Internet can be an extra special, fun, less stressful place. We can make it so.
